2025 marked the first year of Lakelands Public Health following the merger of two health units. Throughout the year, we brought together people, programs, and services, launched our new brand identity, strengthened partnerships, and continued delivering essential public health programs. Food Insecurity and Poverty

Every year, the HKPR District Health Unit publishes a food insecurity report that highlights the struggles faced by low-income families to pay for basic necessities, such as housing and food, because incomes and social assistance rates are not keeping up with rising costs.

Mental Health Promotion Framework

The Mental Health Promotion Framework was developed over many months and in collaboration with internal and external partners. It represents the commitment of HKPR to promote and protect the mental health and well-being of people in our communities.

Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey Summaries (2017)

The Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey (OSDUHS) is a population survey of Ontario students in Grades 7 through 12. This self-administered, anonymous survey is conducted across the province every two years with the purpose of identifying epidemiological trends in student drug use, mental health, physical activity, and risk behaviour, as well as identifying risk and protective factors.

School Health Report 2020-2023

The School-Focused Nursing Initiative was announced in August 2020 with provincial funding for eight contract positions for the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

Situational Assessment of the Four Pillar Approach to Addressing the Drug Poisoning Crisis in the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County

This report was published by the HKLN Drug Strategy Network, in partnership with the HKPR District Health Unit. The purpose of this report is to provide a situational assessment of local trends in drug use and poisonings, and the four pillar approach used to address the crisis in the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County.

Indigenous Engagement in COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

This study was prepared by the Chanie Wenjack School for Indigenous Studies at Trent University. The study explores the experiences of Indigenous leaders and PPH during their collaboration to plan and implement COVID-19 vaccination clinics for the Indigenous population in the Peterborough/Nogojiwanong area.

Health in Official Plans Toolkit

Published in 2018, these reports provided recommendations for local municipalities' Official Plans reviews. The reports provided recommendations on: healthy community design; healthy transportation systems; healthy housing; healthy food systems; and healthy natural environments.
